Macrium ReDeploy: Restore to Any Hardware

Standard Windows backup images are hardware-specific. Restore a Dell backup onto HP hardware, and Windows will fail to boot because the storage controller drivers, chipset drivers, and hardware abstraction layer (HAL) do not match. Macrium ReDeploy solves this by automatically injecting the correct drivers during the restore process, enabling you to move Windows installations between completely different hardware platforms.

ReDeploy works in the rescue environment during the restore process. When you restore a backup image to hardware that differs from the original, ReDeploy detects the new chipset, storage controllers, and network adapters, then injects the appropriate drivers from a built-in driver database or from driver packages you provide. The result is a bootable Windows installation on the new hardware — no manual driver installation, no blue screens, no reinstallation.

Common ReDeploy use cases include: migrating from a failed motherboard to a replacement with a different chipset; moving a physical machine into a Hyper-V or VMware virtual machine (P2V conversion); upgrading from an older workstation to a new model from a different manufacturer; and consolidating multiple physical servers into virtual machines during datacenter migrations.
